PSTS International Import and Export

Air freight is a costly method of shipping a package of any size, but necessary if you need your package to arrive at its destination quickly.to avoid surprises as to the actual cost of shipping, you can calculate the costs before arriving at the depot yourself. All that needed are a few volume calculations and a rate card from the shipper.

Instructions:
1. Measure the length, width and height of the package that you're mailing with a tape measure.

2. Multiply the length by the width. Then multiply the result by the height to get the volume of the package in cubic inches.

3. Contact the shipper that you're using and give them the package source and destination. Ask the shipper what DIM factor they're using for calculating the volumetric weight of the package.

4. Weight your package on a scale, then add the actual weight of your package to the volumetric weight.round the weight up to the next pound.

5. Use the result to determine the shipping costs of air freighting your package by consulting the rate card provided by the shipper. Scan the rate card until you come to the volumetric weight range for your package.Look on the line for your range to locate the charges to ship that particular package weight to your destination.
