Container ships are cargo ships that carry all of their load in truck-size inter modal containers in a technique called containerization. They form a common means of commercial inter modal freight transport.



Emma Maersk is a container ship owned by the A. P. Moller-Maersk Group.. When she was launched, Emma Maersk was the largest container ship ever built. In the beginning of the year 2009 she and her 7 sister ships are the longest container ships constructed and the longest ships currently in use. Officially, Emma Maarsk is able to carry around 11,000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEU) according to the Maersk company's method of calculating capacity, which, at her introduction into service, was about 1,400 more containers than any other ship is capable of carrying.

Danit is the newest "Megaboxer" container ship of the world. The ship has overall length of 365.50 m (1,199.1 ft); moulded beam of 51.20 m (168.0 ft); maximum draft of 16.00 m (52.5 ft); deadweight of 165,517 metric tons; gross tonnage of 153,092 gross tons; and cargo capacity of 14,000 TEUsIn March 2009, DAEWOO Shipbuilding in South
Korea has delivered the world's largest container ship. The 14,000teu vessel is 365.5m in length, 51.2m in breadth and 29.9m in depth. It can sail at 25kt


Daewoo made some innovations in the ship's design, placing the superstructure in the midships and the engine room and funnels in the aft - this gives better stability and lower trim for higher speed, when the ship is fully loaded. The ship is owned by Dordellas Finance Corp., Panama (Management & Operated by MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co SA, avenue Eugene-Pittard, 40,1206 Geneva, Switzerland.)
